let the boy watch productions

WHO ARE THEY?

Matty Blake & Ian Barrett

Matty Blake has been a full time working actor & writer for over 15 years. Ian Barrett has been an independent producer/director for over 15 years.

Now they are producing content together.

WHAT DO THEY MAKE?

Let The Boy Watch Productions produces original scripted content for TV, Film & Digital.

With 2 indie spec. pilots & the 1st season of a web series completed, the boys are currently in pre-production on their first short-length film. They have a folder full of scripts and ideas…and they can’t wait to start making them.

Sometimes in life, all you can do is laugh. Matty & Ian want to show those moments, how we there and how we move on. Or how we don’t …

Believable characters. Real problems. Darkly comedic allegories for where we are in America today. Old ideas Clashing with new realities.

Matty & Ian like to focus on the outskirts of the city of Boston, going a little deeper into the suburban working class of Massachusetts. That’s where they’re from. Write what you know…

HOW DO THEY ROLL?

Someone once said you need ten thousand hours to master your craft.

With Matty’s 10k-plus performance hours and Ian’s 10K-plus producing hours they’ve got the hours covered.

Matty the creative, notebooks overflowing. Ian the eye, the creative glue that binds it all together.

Thus far, Let The Boy Watch has cast their productions from a small stable Matty has put together of fellow working actors. You’ve seen them, you’ve heard them, but you may not know it. Unlike many other indie companies, these casts all make their full time living as actors. Everyone on set is a pro.

While Matty quietly works with the actors on set, Ian is setting the shot. Ian calls action and they’re off.

WHAT’S WITH THE NAME?

Matty & Ian both grew up in front of the TV set in the 70s & 80s. Their babysitters were Starsky & Hutch, Ralph & Potsie, Sam & Diane, and on and on …

While brainstorming a name which would indicate their childhood spent in TV Land someone in the next room was playing an outtake of Will Farrell on “Eastbound & Down.” Like a mystical voice of destiny they heard Will’s brilliant improv “Let the boy watch.”

They looked at each other and knew.
